Flash Back

After shooting this picture and looking at it on the view screen of my Nikon D90 camera, I got a flash back. No! this is not New York, NY, but rather New York, Nevada. Yes, a replica of New York city in Las Vegas.

We arrived in Vegas on the first day of 2011. After checking in our hotels at around 3pm, we left the room in hunting for food and a bit of site seeing. We got back at around 9pm. You might ask: What the heck are you doing in your hotel room at 9pm while in Vegas on a Saturday night? 2 reasons: 1- Our son is only 20months old then and he was tired. 2- We come from Eastern region, 9pm in Vegas is midnight at home. After my son is in bed and drift away to wonderland. I, personally, can't resist not to take any pictures of the sceneries, that offers us, from the courtesy of our room windows.

The moment was to take a pictures of this two replica of a typical New York buildings. I believe one is the Chrysler building and, if not mistaking, the other is the Empire state building just behind it. Once the setting was done and ready to shoot. Two military planes flying side by side came straight in to my shooting zone. Lucky me, I pull the trigger.

The above picture was taken at shutter speed of 1.5 seconds, F5.3 Aperture, focal length of 95mm on my Nikon 18-200mm lens. I just bought this lens for this long trip so I don't have to swap between a close wide lens and a long photo lens. It saves me times and most importantly weight. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to travel light to get it. For the finishing touch I use Lightroom3 with a dark sephia type adjustment. You can see more of my pictures in Las Vegas here.

Now about the flash back? 2 planes, 2 buildings... We all know what it is, needless to remind anyone of it. Just a flash back of what happened on that morning at my office. No one worked after we saw the first hit in replay on CNN. We were all glued to our seats in the board room and watch it over and over for the entire day. Where were you when it happens?

Until the next blog! Be Cute, be Zen, be Light!
